golf in the 2016 Olympic Games
OverviewWide World of Golf has been sending visitors to Brazil since the 1960's, and the growing economy of Brazil has been building some nice new courses for visitors in preparation for the 2016 Olympic Games, when golf will return to the Games after a long layoff. There is currently an ongoing competition to design the 2016 Olympic Golf Course in the Barra da Tijuca neighborhood of Rio de Janiero, with many of the worlds top designers expected to compete for the winning bid. Terra Vista GC (pictured) north of Rio de Janiero is a seaside course that has been getting rave reviews since it's opening a few years ago. In Rio, short but sweet Gavea GC and Itanhanga GC are the more famous clubs. Sao Paolo and Brazilia also feature many clubs ... many more than you might expect!
