Celtic Manor Golf Courses

2010 Course Celtic Manor – Purpose built for The Ryder Cup, this original RT Jones Jr course is made for tournament match play, with risk-reward holes abound and remarkable spectator mounds, and wonderful views in the beautiful Usk Valley.  This is a very good golf course, contrary to popular opinion that it is just another “American style course”, and it is not ordinary in any fashion.  7493 yards and par 71 host of the 2010 Ryder Cup won by Europe.  WWG Grade: A

Montgomerie Course – (6,371 yards par 69) The front nine takes as its framework the starting and closing holes of the old Wentwood Hills championship course which were not part of the plans for the new course for The Ryder Cup. The back nine has been created from scratch on land that previously housed the 18-hole Coldra Woods academy course. Throughout the new course, Montgomerie has put his own stamp on the layout. A traditionalist in design terms, the eight-time European No 1 has added deep pot bunkers to give the course a linksy look. Spectacular views abound with dramatic tee shots over valleys and breathtaking downhill shots. Two long par fives, a number of short par fours and several testing par threes. Carts available and recommended.

Roman Road Course – (6515 yards par 70) The first of the Resort’s courses, opened in 1995 and was ranked ‘the top inland course in Wales’ by Golf Monthly Magazine.  Overlooking the Severn Estuary with views across to Somerset and Devon, it was designed by Robert Trent Jones Sr and is named after the many Roman roads that criss-cross it, the design shaped to avoid disrupting any remains.  The Roman Road course was the host venue in 2005, 2006 and 2007 for The Celtic Manor Wales Open and the 2005 and 2006 All Star Cup which over the two years of the event has featured celebrities such as Catherine Zeta Jones, Michael Douglas, Alice Cooper, Meat Loaf, and Jane Seymour.

Celtic Manor (Town of Newport) – Host of the 2010 Ryder Cup, Celtic Manor is a 5 star resort with two spas, two large health clubs and three championship golf courses.  The Roman Road course has hosted the European PGA Tour Welsh Open several times, the Montgomerie Course features great elevation changes, and the 2010 Course is site of The Ryder Cup. The seven restaurants and three bars give plenty of options, from simple pub grub to the finest Michelin star experience at The Crown.  The highest level of service is offered throughout the resort, and you could not find a better place to end your great Welsh golf vacation.  (WWG Grade: A+) 

Package price:

$980 per golfer double occupancy in the Resort Hotel.  $815 per golfer double occupancy in the Manor House.  Rental car not included. Transfers or taxis from Cardiff Airport or Bristol Airport available. Due to exchange rates, prices are subject to change. Upgrade to deluxe rooms and suites available on request.  A single room supplement privilege will apply (available on request).  This package available only certain months, not always available. High season rates will be higher, call for dates and applicable rates. Tour can be customized to fit your schedule and budget, or can be combined with other packages for a longer stay. A per person deposit is required for reservations and before any reservations are placed on your behalf.  Packages are based on 4 people sharing a self-drive van. For your comfort you can add a minibus or motorcoach and driver to any packaged tour for additional cost.
