Day
1 - Arrive Barcelona or Girona and
pick up rental van. Drive about 90
minutes (from Barcelona) or 30 minutes (from
Girona) to the seaside Aigua Blava Hotel
(4-star), one of the quaintest hotels you
can find anywhere in the world. This
is classic, old Spain as you wish it!
Check into your terrace view room at the
hotel. (Aigua Blava)
Day
2 - After breakfast (included each
day of the tour) golf at Emporda GC, which
has both a links and a forest course.
The Forest Course is more scenic through the
umbrella pines, somewhat reminscent of
Portugal’s Algarve courses, whereas the
Links (faux) is actually harder and used for
PGA Tournaments. Afternoon free to
relax at the beach or the pool overlooking
the sea. (Aigua Blava – B)
Day
3 - Today drive about 25 minutes
and golf at GC Plata d’Aro, a mountaintop
course about 1000 feet above sea level, with
views for many, many miles. In 1992 it
won an award as one of the best European
Coruses by the Society of Golf Course
Architects. At over 6800 yards, a real
challenge and even better views! (Aigua
Blava – B)
Day
4 - Golf today at Serres de Pals,
an 18 holes par 72 course opened in 2000
right by the sea. A few lakes add to
the challenge, as do the pines and gentle
landscape of this Costa Brava region.
After golf consider a drive north to
Figueres and the Dali Museum, which is
fascinating. (Aigua Blava – B)
Day
5 - After breakfast, check out of
the hotel and day free to explore The Costa
Brava or even head into Barcelona for
sightseeing. A great side trip nearby
would be a walk and lunch in the midevel
city of Peratallada, which captures the
historic essence of the Girona-Costa Brava
region. Check in at the 5-star Relais &
Chateaux Hotel Mas de Torrent, a relaxing
resort with gourmet restaurant, amenities,
wonderful spa and swimming pool. (Hotel Mas
de Torrent – B)
Day
6 - Highlight round of golf today
at PGA Catalunya Stadium Course, site of the
Spanish Open. Originally planned to
host the 1997 Ryder Cup, local construction
delays forced the course opening to delay
until 1999. It is beautiful, in great
condition, and an even greater challenge.
Certainly one of the top courses in Southern
Europe! (Hotel Mas de Torrent – B)
Day
7 - Totally free day to enjoy The
Costa Brava. A perfect opportunity to
explore Girona, it’s old town, Jewish
Quarter, and views from the many hilltops.
Consider also a drive north to Club de Golf
Peralada, a luxury small resort with
operating winery, 18 holes of golf, and a
unique “wine-spa”, just for a day lookaround.
(Hotel Mas de Torrent – B)
Day
8 - Dinner included tonight back at
the hotel. Check out of the Mas de Torrent
and turn your car into Barcelona (or Girona)
airport and depart.
(courses may change in sequence based on
availability)

PGA
GOLF DE CATALUNYA –
Costa Brava
Course
designers Angel Gallardo and Neil Coles were
brought to this large site, about 10 minutes
from Girona Airport, to design a PGA course
originally intended to host the 1997 Ryder
Cup. When local politics and development
opposition got in the way, delaying the
opening until 1999, Valderrama on the Costa
del Sol won out. But what a Ryder Cup
site it would have been, or will be someday,
on the Green Course, which now, along with
the Red Course, hosts the PGA Tour
Qualifying on a regular basis. Long and
tight, scenic and tough, these are excellent
courses by any measure, but don’t expect to
score well here, but bring a good attitude
and appreciation of championship venue golf.
Carts are available and are recommended.

GOLF
CLUB D’ARO MAS NOU –
Costa Brava
Founded in
1990, GC D’Aro (par 72 slope 127-131) is
situated on top of the mountain “Les
Gavarres” with spectacular views across the
Costa Brava. The views from 1000 feet
are so good that they make this course one
of the best in the area! Surrounded by
pines, cork oaks and over a thousand olive
trees, this is a tight and challenging
course along the ridge-top with plenty of
challenge for anyone. From the tips,
the course can stretch to over 6800 narrow
yards, but we recommend playing the yellow
tees for gents for a more enjoyable day.
Bring your camera, by all means, and allow
enough time for driving up the mountain.
The nice clubhouse and restaurant are a
great setting après golf. Carts
available onsite. WWG Grade: A-
