Day 1 - Arrive Manchester or Liverpool and pick up rental van for drive to Southport.  Check into The Vincent (5-star) or The Ramada Plaza (4-star) and a chance to get to know quaint Southport.  Dinner included for those using The Vincent.

Day 2 - Day of golf on the championship Royal Birkdale GC (Golf Magazine world ranked #30), just 5 minutes from your hotel and site of many British Open Championships including the 2008 Open won by Padraig Harrington (also staged at Birkdale in ’54, ‘61, ’65, ’71, ’76, ’83, ‘91 and ’98). 

Day 3 - Golf today 1 hour away in Hoylake at Royal Liverpool (Golf Magazine world ranked 80), where Tiger Woods won in 2006 (also staged at “Hoylake” in 1896, ’02, ’07, ’13, ’24, ‘30, ’36, ’47, ’56, and ’67). Lunch is included at Hoylake in the Spike Bar.

Day 4 - Great day of golf today at Royal Lytham & St Annes GC (Golf Magazine world ranked #62), about 45 minutes north, where David Duval last won in 2001 (also staged at Lytham in ’26, ’52, ’58, ’63, ’69, ’74, ’79, ’88, and ’96).

Day 5 - 5 minutes from the hotel is the great Southport & Ainsdale GC, once world top 100 ranked, and used still often for British Open qualifying. Host of the 1933 and 1937 Ryder Cup, S&A has also hosted The British Amateur and the British Mid-Am.

Day 6 - Again just 5 minutes from the hotel is Hillside GC, a great 1911 links along the dunes with a very warm welcome from the staff and one of the best finishes in golf! Also a British Open qualifying site and former British Amateur host.

Day 7 - 15 minutes down the road is Formby GC, built in 1884 and site of the 2009 British Amateur, the Curtis Cup in 2004, and the 1984 British Amateur where Jose Maria Olazabal beat Colin Montgomerie in the final.  

Day 8 - Check out of your hotel and return your rental car to Liverpool John Lennon Airport or Manchester Airport.

Royal Birkdale  – A world top 30 course, this is one of the finest links in the world, built through high dunes and always in excellent condition.  At times it appears as the course is all yours, as most holes are isolated through the dunes and no other players can be seen.  This is where Nicklaus conceded the putt to Jacklin in the Ryder Cup, in an act of gracious sportsmanship. A real treat!

Royal Lytham & St Annes – You had better be accurate here as there are more than 200 bunkers at Lytham, and nobody gets around without visiting a few!  One of the shorter Open Rota courses, but among the most challenging and certainly most interesting.  The courses great character is only surpassed by it’s classic clubhouse, among the games most traditional.

Royal Liverpool – This facility has come miles since they announced it would return to the Open Rota for the 2006 Championship won by Tiger Woods.  The course is a great challenge, especially when the wind blows off the sea, and the remodeled clubhouse and very welcoming staff are among the best.  Don’t ever overlook this beauty of a golf experience!
