Plaza in downtown Auckland, within walking
distance of all the waterfront restaurants and
downtown activities.

Harbour GC, site of The 1998 World Cup and 2006
New Zealand Open. Robert Trent Jones Jr.
used the waterfront cliffs to maximize views and
challenge on many holes. (B)
DAY 3 – Today drive north to The Bay of
Islands and take in the scenic vistas along the
way. Check in at The Abeline Kerikeri
Hotel and optional golf or other activities are
available this afternoon. (B)
DAY 4 – Bay of Islands – golf today on
Kauri Cliffs GC, a superb test of golf,
especially with your eyes distracted by
constantly taking in the superb views.
When opened, it quickly shot up as high as #49
in the world and this course will remain etched
in your mind for years to come as perhaps the
most beautiful golf course you have ever played!
(B)
DAY 5 – check out and fly from Kerikeri
to Taupo (flight not included). Pick up
new rental car and drive to The Wairakei Resort.

Hawke’s Bay area in the heart of the Kiwi wine
country. Check into The Black Barn two
bedroom lodge at Black Barn Vineyards.
Afternoon can be spent visiting the famous local

Some of Your Golf Courses: |
|
GULF HARBOUR CC - A Robert Trent
Jones Jr. designed course just 40 minutes
north of Auckland. Excellent drainage
makes this a superb all weather course, with
magnificent “links looking” coastal holes
and views over the sea. Many good
holes are featured before the controversial
16th
and 17th, with severe right to
left slopes. Gulf Harbour is known for
having hosted the 1999 World Cup and has
plenty of carts.
WWG Grade: A-
KAURI CLIFFS GC - Par 72, 7037
yards – Opened in 2000, the course is
set on oceanfront cliffs of 4,000 acres of
rolling coastal farmland owned by Tiger
Funds founder Julian Robertson from the USA.
It is a remarkable location overlooking the
Cavalli Islands, Takou Bay and the outer
reaches of the Bay of Islands. It is
surrounded on the landward side by pasture
with strands of native trees and drops away
steeply to the Pacific Ocean on the coastal
side. Kauri Cliffs is already rated one of
the very best courses in the world has been
rated by Golf Magazine as World #49.
WWG
Grade: A+
WAIRAKEI GC - Internationally
acclaimed Wairakei International GC is a
parkland course which should not be missed.
Once ranked by Golf Magazine in the world
top 100, and it will perhaps again after a
recent refurbishment. Situated 9 kms
north of Taupo and set in 450 acres of
gentle rolling countryside, Wairakei
presents magnificent tree lined fairways and
large manicured greens. The course is well
drained and easily walked. A total of
108 bunkers ensnare the course as do three
water hazards, and the comparisons to
Gleneagles Kings Course in Scotland are
obvious.
WWG Grade: A
CAPE KIDNAPPERS GC - Par 71, 7137
yards – Take a 5000 acre piece of property
in the lush wine country, with dramatic
cliffs on both sides, and ask talented Tom
Doak to design a “world class course”.
Julian Robertson did just that, and the new
course is already being mentioned as “best
newcomer in the southern hemisphere”.
The last time we heard that it was at Kauri
Cliffs, Robertson’s other 5-star-plus golf
destination. The setting is like “Big
Sur on steroids” and the course will give
you all you want to handle. Don’t
expect to go low here, as the wind can play
havoc with your scorecard. This is one
of those rare courses that the challenge of
the holes is outstanding, and nothing could
be better except for the South Pacific
views! Exposed along 400 foot cliffs, it’s
amazing nobody ever put a golf course here
before! Bring your A game to this
course. (Five sets of tees: Ladies
5182-5808 yards with slope 136-142 / Gents
6242-7137 yards with slope 137-141) WWG
Grade: A+
MILLBROOK GC - Set amidst spectacular
alpine amphitheater, the Millbrook GC is
fashioned from original terrain with mixture
of undulating to rolling fairways, each hole
having its own strategic and scenic feature.
Stretching to over 7000 yards and designed
by Kiwi legend lefty Bob Charles, Millbrook
is an exceptional experience for the serious
or social golfer, and features one of the
most unique country settings anywhere.
A delightful day is always in store here!
